One month in one entry...?

| | Comments (1) | TrackBacks (0)
I've been home for almost a month now! Wasn't used to it at first, but I actually really like it here. I missed my family lots, so I'm happy about getting to see them every day :) Gonna try to summarize my past 30 living days in one entry--here goes!

Last couple of images from Hong Kong! My last outing with my cousins </3

I miss having a pretty roommate =[

With Dylan.. an awesome singer he is!

Went out night after night... I miss LKF soo much!

With Kathy during my last visit to HKU!

But all good things have to come to an end (otherwise, how do we appreciate them!?)! So, after a 14-hour plane ride and hours of hulking and sulking, I made a surprisingly quick recovery from my withdrawal stage and began to appreciate my "normal" life again :)

Jess was being her awesome self & spent lots of time with me :)

We took a whole set of photos, most of which are posted on FB :)

Loooove this girl.

Webcam whoring.

So nice to spend time with old friends <3 Bri & I playing big2, our all-time favourite.

Annnnnd guess who came to visit all the way from Omaha, Nebraska? Ryan! :)

Oh, I've found myself a new hobby! Well, two to be precise. Photography and lomography :) My dad doesn't really use his dslr, so he let me have his Canon Rebel XT. It's relatively old, but good nonetheless.

It's my fave new toy <3

I've been bringing my dslr with me everywhere. I look like a freakin' tourist/paparazzi/stalker, but I don't care :D I've always admired other people's photography, and now I finally have the equipment to pursue it myself! Yay. The other day I  was really desperate to take photos of the setting sun... and I was literally chasing the sunset.

I looked like a fool :( Not to mention that I made my sister worry I got raped *rolls eyes*... I didn't even get the shot I wanted either, I'm so full of fail.

Celebrating daddy's 50th <3

I've been spending so much time downtown these days! There's just so much more to see and do. I love living uptown for its comfort, but it gets pretty dull sometimes. Plus, methinks there's better variety of food downtown :)

In Korean town <3 I love my banchan!

I like this shot of Jacky!

I like the colours in this one <3

Went to Night It Up! over the weekend. It was the closest I'll ever be to an authentic night market in Taiwan for a looong time. It brought back nice memories :)

With my sisters <3

  With my 三色冰!

Ever since exchange ended, I've felt an ever pressing need to just go out and "experience" Toronto for what it is. It's definitely not the same as Asia though, since going out in Canada usually means spending lots of money, especially on transportation.

At the Toronto Outdoor Arts Exhibition :)

Beautiful sky :)

Brings out my artsy side :) I wanna sew so badly (no pun intended).

And what's a July in Toronto without Summerlicious!? At Alize Restaurant.

Me & my udon (nts: Never order Asian food at an Italian restaurant! D:)
I was so tempted to PS my cheeks in this photo, but I (grudgingly) let it be *sigh*

Aside from going out, I've been trying to get some things done at home too. Basically, things that I don't really have time to do throughout the school year... I.e. knit, read, dance, etc. I finished 3 books in the past week or so, so I am fairly pleased with myself :)

Jocey said, "You're reading, AGAIN!?" and snapped this photo.

Shortly after that... The classic pout D:

My sock... SOME progress, hopefully!? :D

In terms of dance, Jocey & I have been trying to choreograph Feedback by Janet Jackson. It's our first serious attempt at choreography, so I'd say we're doing pretty well :) We're not exactly disciplined though, so we only have 30 secs so far D: I'll post a YT video when I decide we've improved! :D

Also, I've always had this crazy idea to... write and illustrate a children's book o_o. It might sound far-fetched, but I really think I can do it. I just need to manage my time well (which also means less time on this blog :D). If I could accomplish just this lone goal of mine, my summer is complete <3

Hopefully by my next entry, I will have done the following:
  • Finish Atonement by Ian McEwan;
  • Choreograph 60secs of Feedback;
  • Figure out my lomo cameras;
  • Rough draft of my book
I'm way over my head right now. But at least I have my lolly :)

Photoshoots & Christmas parties!

Disclaimer: This entry is extremly image-heavy. Ok, you may proceed.

Gah, my short-term memory is so baddd. I actually had to look at my planner to remember what I did this past week ;_; A lot of shopping and Christmas parties... I hosted a potluck the other day - thanks everyone for coming! Too bad I didn't take many photos D:

I made home-style mac 'n cheese. Yum yum!
Mac 'n cheeseSpeaking of food, I've been eating a lot more than I should T_T... Gotta start exercising again noooo. I also did Janice & Grace's nails that day.. I swear I was gonna die from inhaling all that nail polish remover. They better like 'em >:D

Grace's nails! I tried to 'design' something to match their personalities... This one's super girly :)

These are Janice's... A little more spunky. !@#$% I'm so jealous of their long nail beds. D:
Janice's nailsI spent Christmas day with my sisters and mum.. Nothing special, just spurring the Canadian economy with our money-spending ways :) Took so many photos that day :D

Ho ho ho! My family... minus dad.
Family photoThese aren't retouched in any way. Somehow I feel like I always have to add that 'cause so many people accuse me of Photoshop D: I do edit a few of my photos, but even so, I'm not ashamed to admit it. =="

Speaking of photos... I did a photoshoot with Payam the other day. It was so fun! Haha he's so talented... I wish I had his skill. I took nearly 200 photos, but obviously not all of them turned out so well. I'd make such an awkward model o_o.

I chose 5 photos for him to retouch... Here are some of the ones that I didn't choose:

See, I wasn't lying when I said this was an image-heavy post... Anyway, I'll post the retouched photos when Payam's done with them. :) TTFN! Clearly, I've been watching too much Gossip Girl.... hehe.

Random, but I got myself a vintage Polaroid camera the other day... Just waiting for the film to arrive. Woohoooooooooo!!

Jay Chou concert & other sweet stuff.

Okay, so I had the most amazing weekend ever. Okay.. Maybe not EVER, but it was pretty damn awesome. It started with Jay's concert on Thursday, December 18th, 2008. Ahh, this isn't a date I'll be forgetting anytime soon... I was SO uberly excited for it. Check out the signs I made for me and my sisters! They're pretty tiny, but the last thing I wanted was crazy Jay fans chucking stuff at us...

Awesome Jay signs!
I felt like I caked on a lot of make-up that night (What if I bumped into Jay?!!), but it doesn't really show up in photos... At least I don't think so - what do you think? Foundation, concealer, eyeliner, mascara...
Before Jay's concert We got there pretty early, and it was PACKED... I've never seen so many Asian people before, save for in Hong Kong or Taiwan.. Everyone was just as excited as I was! We arrived early, so we decided to camwhore a bit... Hmm, Joey still looks pretty cute with minimal make-up.
At the Air Canada Centre
Yay! Embracing the crowd :]
At the Air Canada Centre The concert was so amazing - Jay is so freakin' talented! He opened with 黃金甲 and it was so epic. He really knows how to work the crowd! 南拳媽媽 made a special appearance, so Jay played the piano battle scene from Secret, which was totally unexpected... Everything felt so surreal. He also danced, played the guitars, a short drums segment, the guzhen... What CAN'T this guy do!?

我要嫁給你!!!
Jay Chou If anything though, I thought the concert was too short... It was barely 2 hours. But I guess you can say it was short and sweet. Really memorable. Next time I go to Taiwan, I am seeing him again in concert.

So yeah, there was a snow storm on Friday, so I didn't go out that day... Besides, I needed the rest anyway. I had my last art class the day after on Saturday... It was so sad. I'm gonna miss the kids so much when I'm away! D:

Aiya, this week has been so tiring... I spent a lot of time in the kitchen preparing for my church's dessert competition (which was earlier tonight). I made kiwi and cherry tarts!
Kiwi tart

Cherry tart I didn't win, but it was definitely a great experience! Some of the desserts looked (and tasted!) so amazingly good. The competition was a portion of our annual Christmas celebration... It was a lot of fun! My sisters performed the Mario Kart Love Story on behalf of their fellowship, and it was cuteee =) Might post a video later. After the night of celebration and lots of good food, a good 10+ of us went to Oasis for some karaoke!

Anyway, I am absolutely exhausted. Have an early appointment with an eye specialist tomorrow, then gotta prepare for the potluck happening later on in the evening! Will update about that later... Byee!
