Another celebrity encounter!

|
Technically, two.

I'll start with the first one.

So, the other day I was at Causeway Bay walking towards Times Square. I stopped when I saw someone who looked vaguely familiar. It was...... Janice Man. Ah, this is my second Janice Man encounter! I was surprised at how calm I was... Didn't flinch or anything. She was walking with her friend and chatting... There wasn't anyone following her except a single photographer snapping pictures of her every so often... I happened to be in a photo :X I swear, if I ever get a chance to see her again, I'll definitely ask for a photo (but will forever remember my inferiority to her beauty blah blah blah).

Earlier on in the week, Lucy decided to make a visit from Taiwan. I took her to all the hotspots... We had Japanese rice pizza for lunch!

Now, onto our celebrity encounter! We were soo exhausted by the end of the day.... But even so, we decided to go to dimsum.... at 3 in the morning. We also went with Amanda, Maggie and her roommate, Mina. So, we were happily eating our hargows and siumais when the shopowner vehemently declared, "Your idol is here!" I didn't know what she was talking about... but low and behold, when I turned around... I saw.... Eason Chan!!!11111

Uh huh. Yeah. Top male singer of Hong Kong.... Eason Chan! We were all so starstruck (okay, maybe only Maggie and Amanda)... We wanted to talk to him so badly but we didn't want to interrupt his meal or anything. So we just sat there and waited... and waited... Until we couldn't wait anymore and we just asked him to take photos with us.

He was such a nice guy! His English was really good too. We chatted for a good 10 minutes or so... and took a bunch of photos.

With the owners. How pathetic do I look? :)

With me, Mina, Maggie, Amanda & Lucy (NTS: NEVER dress down, even at 3am--you never know when you'll meet a hot star)
eason2.jpgHe also gave me his autograph.... with a personalized message! Wow.

I'm so lucky. Honestly... I've been here only three months and I've already bumped into two celebrities! I heard Nicholas Tse visits that dimsum restaurant often too--maybe I should camp out there or something.

Anyway, what have I been up to lately? Busyyyyyyyyyyyyy. SO freakin' busy with dance. 6~8 hour practices a day have become the norm. It's exhausted me completely, but I am soo pleased with the results. Not only was our performance fantastic (imo), but I made a lot of new local friends, which is something I really wanted to do on exchange.

With YY, Novem & Leaf.

I've been really busy so I haven't been able to see my family too often... My cousin, his wife and their son Joshua came to visit from Taiwan! :) It was his birthday the other day.

He's such a cutie pie :)

My latest obsession: 芒果西米露! With Mike at a dessert shop (I got a perm--can you tell?)
DSC05232.JPG楊枝金露.... Yum yum. This was 'invented' by Novem's bf's father!
DSC05070.JPGI introduced it to Koki... he LOVED it!

Phew! That was loooong :) Will make another post next week or so.

DRASTIC CHANGE IN APPEARANCE.

| | Comments (1)
Okay, that was a bit of an exaggeration. I personally don't think it's THAT huge of a change, but I keep on getting "wtf" reactions.... So uhmm...?

My hair is jet black!

For me, this is pretty significant I suppose. The last time I had dark hair was ages ago, but even so, it wasn't jet black. My natural hair color is dark brown anyway, so it was a bit hard to digest at first...

This was what I looked like last week (trying to capture different angles here):IMG00002.jpgIMG00008 - Copy.jpgIMG000100.jpg
And now........
IMG00031.jpgI was so self-conscious at first, I wouldn't take my hat off...

Anyway, I have been soooooo busy lately. Not with school work though, surprisingly... With dance! Our performance is in two weeks, and we've been practicing like crazy. About 5 hours each practice, minimum 5~6 times a week! I've been so busy and exhausted from it that I've been sorta hermit-ing lately... Boo =( But on the bright side, I've become pretty tight with my jazz girlies <3

Hmm, that's about it. In terms of shopping... I splurged on yet another set of Skinfood products! Man I'm not even gonna hide it.... Tis is shameful advertising D: But I love this brand! Everyone should use it!

Massage gel, cleansing water, anti-wrinkle cream, eyebrow shadow, masks...

Random side story that happened a couple hours ago... So after a 5-hour dance practice, I was famished and decided to grab something at McDonalds (despite the fact that it was past midnight--shame on me!)... I walked up to order and the cashier (male) started smiling and then laughing... I was like... "What?" He shook his head and said "nothing".

I ordered, waited for my food and when he came back to give me change... I asked him "Why were you laughing earlier?". He smiled again and said, "Because you're pretty". O__O... I was like "Haaaaaaaaaaaa" and then walked away. I was happy though (:

Er... Peace out? My hands look so plain without polish :(

JANICE MAN.

Isn't my life great? Hahaha. I can die happy now, knowing that I've seen one of two of my idols (the other being her "friend"/archrival Angelababy). Is she as pretty in real life as she is in photos? Is she skinny? Is she friendly? Yes, yes, and yes.

It was Valentine's Day. I was honestly having the crappiest day ever, feeling totally lonely 'cause I was shopping by myself while waiting for friends... All I see are hordes of girls with their boyfriends holding onto huge bouquets of roses and/or wearing matching shirts/LVs/trucker hats OR... all of the above.

They call it Singles' Awareness Day, but I think it's also Overseas Bf/Gf Awareness Day :( Okay, so I'll stop blabbing and post the photos.

Stupid fanboys made my ears bleed.

Yup, so that's about the single most exciting event of the week. I did a lot of shopping, but that's almost become a habit now. I splurged at Playboy the other day...
DSC04069.JPGI love how in Hong Kong, there isn't any social stigma attached to the brand. Here, it's just a cute bunny. Back at home, people will wonder the x or xx number of guys you've slept with. Ah, I love HK :)

Speaking of which, school is fun. I can't believe I said that... But it is. How often do you get to watch porn in class... as a class? I'm not kidding.

We watched porn in class. (Bolded, italicized, and underlined for emphasis)
DSC04071.JPG
It was for my Japanese/HK pop culture class. It was a lecture on Japanese pornographic culture... and for the "pursuit of knowledge" as my professor so brilliantly put it, he decided it would be of educational value to show a porn in class. That's not the end of it. This week, he's inviting an AV director to come speak to us. Topic? "How to make a porn".... Life is great.

I realized I haven't talked much about residence life. So I will. Needless to say, it's a lot different from back home. People don't sleep. They don't go to class (often, at least). They're super hardcore about extra-curriculars though. I joined the drama team, and my first practice is tomorrow.... at midnight. Seriously. I'm also a part of the jazz team, and we have practices about 3 times a week, 3 hours each. Uh huh. HK students take "well-rounded" to the next level...

I got a job! Two (or three) to be exact... as a research assistant with a psych prof. I'm also tutoring English on the side. Hopefully I'll make enough money to fund my travels. Thailand and the Philippines next week!!!

My nails at the moment.
DSC04124.JPG
Just a simple French manicure. I have two job interviews this week... Any other nail design would have been career suicide. I was gonna make a tutorial for it, but then I thought it'd be pointless. French manicures are a basic skill.... right? Like applying mascara and French braiding. I don't really understand why some girls spend $30+ getting a French manicure at the salon. IMO, such a waste of money... and half the time, it comes out just about the same as if I were to DIY it.

I'm vain.
OMG lighting so good.JPG...but so are you. :) :)
DSC03994.JPG
I'm trying to lose weight. What better encouragement to shed the pounds than to publicly announce it? Currently, I'm roughly 110lb, give or take a couple (depending on the accuracy of Ikea scales). I don't really care about the actual weight per se, I just want to look and feel thinner. Hence joining the jazz team. I'll blog more about my process later.... Gotta go to dance practice now :)
