My pageant experience

| | Comments (0)

It's been two weeks since pageant weekend, but I've been so busy packing for Quebec (where I am right now) and with running errands all over the place.. but better late than never, right?

Anyway, I've been training for the Miss Petite Ontario pageant since last November. I auditioned and got a chance to be a delegate.. Thought about it for a while, then later accepted because it seemed like an interesting thing to do. I know people are gonna judge, but I have my reasons.. I mean, I'll blog about it for people who want to know, but I won't post photos on Facebook or anything.

A breakdown of the weekend!

Day 1 - April 22, 2010

Pick up sashes.

Rehearsals until 2am. Marissa & I in our pjs :)

Day 2 - April 23, 2010

Ginie's covering her sash becaue they spelled her name wrong =/

Rehearsals until... I duno, 4am?

Day 3 - April 24, 2010

Pretty uneventful. Did the Q&A portion of the pageant. My questions were:

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Tell me about your charity.
  • From your experience, what do you think is the difference between the schooling systems here and abroad?
  • If you were given a million dollars, what would you do?
  • As a minority in Canada, how do you think you can be a role model for Canadians? (something like that)
  • If you know someone who isn't proud of being Canadian, what would you do to convince them otherwise?
  • You seem like a strong person, where do you get that from?

I answered alright. I wasn't exceptional but I wasn't bad, either.

Day 4 - April 25, 2010

Preparing for the show! Time for makeup.

Hair.

Show time!

I ended up winning the Miss Petite Central Ontario title so I'm eligible for the nationals, but I won't be going for personal reasons. Overall, it was a good experience.. I wouldn't do it again, but there were definitely a lot of takeaways from this 6-month experience :)

If you have any personal questions about my experience, feel free to ask! <3
