La Fonda Restaurant

Location: Escudellers, 10  08002  Barcelona, Spain
Cuisine: Spanish
Rating: 9/10

La Fonda is one of me and Jacky’s favourite restaurants in Barcelona. The location and food is good, and even better, the prices are really reasonable, on par with or even cheaper than in Canada. I think we’ve been… 5-6 times already? Basically every time we visit Barcelona, we go. It’s our must-visit stop on every one of our Spanish itineraries :) Anyway, this is a collection of photos from our many visits since 2010.

Saravana Bhavan Restaurant

Location: London, England
Cuisine: Indian vegetarian
Rating: 9.5/10

Ok first of all, I do not know why ratings for Saravanaa Bhavan are so low. I can’t vouch for every single location, but all I know is that the one we went to was amazing. Jacky and Jocelyn will say the same. The service wasn’t great yeah, but it’s not fine dining either so I don’t understand people’s complaints. It’s also a bit difficult to get to. We got there by car and I’m not sure how far it is from the tube.. but if you know a local who is willing to take you there, definitely give this place a visit

Anyway, like I said, there are locations all around the world, even in Canada (in Mississauga no less!!) I didn’t like the Mississauga location so much, but the one in Eastham (London) was great. Jacky had been two years ago and has been convincing me to give it a try for the longest time. The Chinese-style Indian dishes are one-of-a-kind.

This is cocktail fried idly, deep fried mini idlies sauteed with regional spices. Nice and cunrchy

TapaTapa Restaurant

Location: Barcelona, Spain
Cuisine: Spanish
Rating: 9/10

I believe TapaTapa (creative right? lol) is a chain with multiple locations across the city. I love this place. It’s colourful, noisy and you get great value for your money. The only downside is that the service is slow, but it’s not a big deal if you’re not in a rush to go someplace else. Onto what we ordered!

Tapas24 Restaurant

Location: Carrer de la Diputació, 269 08007 Barcelona
Cuisine: Spanish
Rating: 9/10

I don’t remember how we stumbled upon this place, but Joc, Jacky and I had an excellent meal here. It’s a bit on the pricy side as far as tapas bars go, but the dishes were great.

The menus were so cute :)

TICKETS Tapas Bar

Location: Avinguda del Paral·lel, 164, 08015 Barcelona
Cuisine: Spanish gastronomy
Rating: 10/10

This is my FAVE resto in Barcelona hands down.. Sooo of course it deserves its own blog post. I am salivating just writing this post, no joke. Anyway so a bit of background info. For the longest time, Jacky and I had dreamed of dining at El Bulli, rated as the world’s best restaurant for a record five times…. but unfortunately it closed last year :( When it was still open, not only was the restaurant difficult to access (it was in Catalonia, but still quite far from Barcelona) the restaurant had an extremely limited season. It only opened for half the year!! We were disappointed we didn’t get the chance to try it (no wonder, it would set us back €250/pp mind you), but Jacky discovered that the chef Ferran Adrià and his brother Albert opened a tapas bar in Barcelona!!!

It’s called Tickets (they also have a sister restaurant called 41 degrees that we have yet to try)
